Empowering Black youth through innovation, mentorship, and leadership. Founded by Prof. Bukola Salami, The Black Youth Mentorship & Leadership Program (BYMLP) is a transformative initiative dedicated to fostering excellence and opportunity among Black youth in Canada. As part of this mission, the STEM stream—focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—equips participants with technical skills, career exposure, and a strong sense of purpose in the modern world.

What Is the S.T.E.M. Stream?

The STEM stream is a hands-on, mentor-mentee(s) driven experience that introduces participants to real-world applications of STEM through workshops, mentorship, and projects. It is led by industry professionals, educators, and passionate mentors.

This part of BYMLP is designed to:

- * Introduce students to key STEM fields
- * Build foundational knowledge and technical confidence
- * Encourage collaboration and creativity
- * Showcase pathways to higher education and careers

Below are the three core STEM fields featured in our current BYMLP 2025 curriculum . Each section is curated, developed, and managed by our mentees as part of their learning experience:

Computer Science

Uncover the logic behind algorithms, data, and problem-solving. Learn how computers think—and how you can control them.

Software Engineering

Build real-world applications, collaborate on projects, and learn the tools of modern developers.

Mechanical Engineering

Dive into the world of machines, physics, and innovation. Explore how things move, work, and improve lives.

Each box will take you to a dedicated page built by our mentees, featuring resources, projects, and insights into that specific field.
